More Prizes, ATCs and a Fabric Book

I received my other two OWOH prizes this week.......
a gorgeous dragonfly charm made by Keron Lee (who is currently organising hearts and dolls for the victims of the Australian bushfires)http://www.thecolourguru.typepad.com/ and http://loveitforward.ning.com/

.......plus some great items for altering from Moira Sutton at http://www.happy-daze.net/epages/es112899.sf . I can't wait to have a go at that box!

Moira's shop is definitely worth a visit. There are all sorts of items for altering including cute bird boxes!

I made another fabric heart yesterday for a special blogging friend I met recently.
Plus 2 ATCs today - just because I felt like it!

And finally, something I've been working on all week and I LOVED doing.........the cover for a fabric book on the theme of angels. (More on this at a later date.) I am now debating how to make a fabric border for it.
I made the background fabric myself. After reading Judy Scott's blog and seeing her gorgeous nuno felting, I thought I would have a go. Well, I can't say it was a resounding success - but I managed to salvage it!
This was how it looked at first...but I then hand needle-felted sari silk fibres on top. You can see them here in the picture below....

After machine-stitching the picture on (transferred to fabric using JetFX) I spent a happy few hours adding beads, running stitches and french knots.
Now I'm going to make the back cover using the remains of the nuno felting......

Prizes, Hearts and Dolls

Lucky me ..... I won 4 prizes in the One World One Heart give away! Two have arrived already.... a gorgeous Oriental Arch from Marion Bockelman http://bockel24.blogspot.com/ - I love the colours and all the detail in this... and a very pretty little journal folder for me to put my own pictures in from Rein at http://stampingrika.blogspot.com/with an adorable ATC inside!

Thank you both - I love my gifts....and I still have two more to come!

One of my Australian friends, Keron Lee (who lives in Victoria) has set up a special site dedicated to helping people who are in need of love and support - in particular those who have been affected by the devastating bushfires recently. You can read more about it here and get involved if you wish to. I have made 2 dolls and 2 hearts which I will be posting to Keron tomorrow.

This doll is made from the pattern you can download from http://loveitforward.ning.com/

and this one I adapted from Dots famous Dottee Doll pattern. Normally I would stitch lots of beads on but as it may be given to a child it couldn't have too much embellishment.
Now I'm going back to my journaling - so I'm off to Kathryn's blog to be inspired!

I printed out all the comments I received, cut them up and drew one out of a hat.
And the winner is...........

Hope you like it.....

........................ as promised, there'll be a few other things in the parcel as well.

I've really enjoyed taking part in this event and have discovered hundreds of wonderful blogs and artists - and have made some new friends in the process!

Hearts

Our challenge this week on http://bigartadventure.blogspot.com/ is to create a piece of art with a milagros heart on it.
I needle-felted both of my hearts and made the pink one into a little quilt .

The second one I mounted onto organza then metal. The patterns on the metal were made using tools from Ten Second Studios (bought from LBCrafts.)

For Sesga

Sesga tagged me a few days ago to show the 4th picture in the 4th file on my computer.
Well here it is......we were in Lindos on the island of Rhodes. It hadn't rained for some time and the local goats were getting hungry for some greenery. Luckily they are good climbers because this one was up a tree! As I photographed him he gave me that what???? look.
Just in case you didn't believe goats could climb trees....

I haven't had much time for art this week. We moved dad to a nursing home nearer to us on Friday (that was a major operation; took 4 of us to get him in the car and a canvas hoist to get him out). He was very distressed as you might imagine and he is now extremely confused. Hopefully he will settle in over the next couple of weeks though. Its a lovely place; a huge country house set in massive gardens with a lake - should be lovely in spring and summer.

I've been to visit him a few times over the past few days and helped to feed him. Its his birthday today, but he isn't aware. We are all hoping to get to see him tomorrow with his presents and cake.

Today is a 'stay at home' kind of day. No traffic is moving around our area and apparently the roads haven't been gritted. My daughter caught a bus to go to work and after an hour it had moved half a mile. After an other half hour she decided to get off and walk back home. I am supposed to be working at the Beetroot Tree Gallery today but the taxi I booked couldn't get to me. We've only had about 6" of snow but thats what happens in England!

Roll on Spring - my favourite time of year!

Be filled with Wonder and Peace.....and Cosiness

I hope you're managing to embrace this change of season. I'm so much better at accepting the end of summer than I used to be. I&...
